How to compare AC installation estimates in Tampa
A practical guide to comparing equipment, ductwork, permits, warranties and terms before approving an air conditioning installation.

Start with the same scope
Two estimates can look similar while covering different work. Before comparing totals, confirm whether each covers replacing your current system, adding AC to an addition or working on new construction. Identify what stays and what changes.
Compare the evaluation, not just the equipment
An evaluation of the home and ductwork helps define the proposal. ENERGY STAR recommends a home evaluation before a contractor recommends a system. Do not assume that greater capacity is the right choice. See the checks and sources on our installation page.
Ask for an included-work list
Look for identification of the indoor and outdoor equipment, ductwork and connections, and any excluded tasks. Ask who handles the old equipment, what access the crew needs and how the work is coordinated. Do not assume that two descriptions of a “complete installation” mean the same thing.
Clarify permits and coordination
The address and scope determine what needs to be reviewed for the project. Ask who checks the applicable permits and inspections, who handles them and how they are coordinated. Confirm scheduling with the team; an estimate request does not reserve an installation.
Read warranty and financing terms separately
Request written equipment and labor coverage, registration requirements and exclusions. If you consider financing, compare lender terms, payments and the total payable rather than choosing by the monthly payment alone. Approval and terms are determined by the lender.

The diagnostic visit costs $79. If you proceed with the work, it is credited toward the total. The estimate is prepared for your property and scope. You do not need every technical answer before calling: the team will explain the evaluation.
